The Scottish care regulator has praised the new management team at a Sanctuary Care home in South Ayrshire.

In its latest inspection completed on 4 November 2022, the Care Inspectorate rated Queens Care Home in Prestwick ‘Good’ in all areas.

The regulator commented: “The provider had recently changed the management of the care home with new manager and deputy in post.

“We heard positive comments about this change and we noted that they worked well together and engaged positively during this inspection process.

“During our discussions it was apparent they were open and transparent about the task ahead and had already identified areas of improvement within the service and were actively in the process of implementing changes to address these.

“This provided reassurances that they understood their roles and responsibilities and recognised where improvements were needed.”

The Care Inspectorate said there was a “good blend” of new and experienced staff at the home, adding Sanctuary Care had invested in improving the care home environment, which was evident in furnishings fittings and other upgrades noted during the inspection.

A spokesperson for Sanctuary Care said: “Our commitment is to enrich the lives of all our residents by providing the highest standards of care possible, so we are very pleased to see this positive report and are proud of the hard work being done by team members at the Queens Care Home.”
