R & G Quality Care purchases Dorset care home

R & G Quality Care has completed the freehold purchase of Millbrook House care home in Child Okeford, Dorset, a Good-rated Georgian Grade II-listed residential care home set within two acres of gardens, registered for 33 services users in the category of old age.

Since 1997 the home has been owned by Christine Wood who is retiring from the sector.

R & G Quality Care owns two other care homes in the area: The Old Rectory in Stalbridge and Bramley House in Mere.

Wood said: “It has been a pleasure owning and operating Millbrook House over the last 25 years, and I am proud of the work we have done at the home over this period. I am sad to be leaving, but felt it was the right time to pass the business onto a new owner who will be able to continue to offer the high standard of care provided by the staff.”

Richard Wagner, director at R & G Quality Care, commented: “Millbrook House is a lovely home in a tranquil area, and we are thrilled to have been able to purchase this business. As a local care homeowner who lives nearby, I look forward to building on the home’s already good name and increasing its strong links with the local community.”

Business property advisor Christie & Co facilitated the sale.

Charles Phillips, director, healthcare at Christie & Co, said: “There is strong demand for a range of care home types in the Southwest. Country house-style boutique homes such as Millbrook House are sought after by many applicants, especially existing local providers and regional operators.”

Millbrook House was sold for an undisclosed price.
