Craigielea Care Home in Gateshead has promoted two long-standing staff members to leadership positions.

The home provides residential, nursing and specialised dementia care.

Sarah Johnson, a member of the Craigielea team since 2019, has been appointed as the new care home manager. A qualified mental health nurse since 2015, Johnson’s experience spans various healthcare settings, including the NHS. She joined Craigielea as a nurse and was placed on the company’s leadership development programme and promoted to deputy manager at Craigielea in 2020.

Sarah Hoey, began working at Craigielea in 2003 as a care assistant, has been appointed deputy manager. She has worked in various roles, including senior care assistant and nurse assistant. Hoey has completed the social care associate practitioner programme and is enrolled on a Level 5 leadership and management course.

Johnson said: “I am looking forward to developing within the role and it’s fantastic to have another internal promotion, in the form of new deputy manager Sarah Hoey, working alongside me.”

Hoey added: “Having been part of the home for a very long time, I am eager to learn and embrace the responsibilities of being the deputy manager.”

Operations manager Steve Massey commented: “The promotion of Sarah Johnson and Sarah Hoey to these key leadership roles is a clear reflection of our commitment to internal talent development. Their dedication and skills have been invaluable to Craigielea, and I am confident that under their leadership, our care home will continue to excel in providing outstanding care to our residents.”
