Oakland Care celebrates housekeepers with ‘clean team’ takeover

Oakland Care surprised care workers at its Elmbrook Court care home in Wantage, Oxfordshire with an extra paid day off as part of a celebration of their continued hard work and dedication.

A team of 12 volunteers comprising senior team members at Elmbrook Court and its longterm supply partners, Careshop and My Purchasing Partner (MPP) decided to go one step further and join forces to deep clean the care home before Christmas in their place.

The home aimed to celebrate the achievement of head housekeeper Jadwiga Szacka, who was a finalist at last year’s National Care Awards, and her colleagues’ continued efforts

“It was such a pleasant surprise for me and the team to be given the day off,” said Szacka. “It’s wonderful to know that our contribution is recognised by our colleagues, and we’re incredibly grateful to those who stepped into our role and helped in getting the care home ready for the festive period – you certainly did a good job!”

Malcolm Hague, director of operations at Oakland Care, said: “Thank you to those volunteers from our longterm partners at Careshop and MPP who joined the clean team on the day.”

“This commitment to maintaining a consistently high level of cleanliness and hygiene is shared across Oakland Care, and we are incredibly proud of every single housekeeping staff member who helps to create a healthier, safer, and more enjoyable environment for our residents and teams.”
