Nursing home opens in Leicester

Exemplar Health Care, a nursing care provider for adults living with complex and high acuity needs, has officially opened Greenacre Park, a new home in Leicester.

Cutting the ribbon was the lord mayor of Leicester, Councillor Dr Susan Barton.

The home is a refurbished and extended version of elderly care home Foxton Grange which closed in February 2021. Deeley Group undertook the works.

Greenacre Park is Exemplar first home in Leicester and has created 80 new healthcare jobs in the local area. The home has 28 large bedrooms, each with an en suite wetroom, split across two, 14-bed communities. Knighten Unit will support male adults living with complex mental health needs, whereas Watermead Unit will focus on supporting individuals with neuro-disabilities including Huntington’s disease and physical health needs. Each community has a dining room, lounge, quiet lounge, and a sensory bathroom. The home also features communal dining and living spaces, a central activities hub, a therapy room, and a large accessible garden.

Katie Capes, commissioning manager for Exemplar Health Care, said: “This new home embodies our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care and support to those living with complex care needs. We know this type of service is in high demand for individuals and families in the local area and our dedicated team is looking forward to working with local commissioners, social workers and families to make a positive difference to people that need long term nursing care and support.”

Emma Daniels, home manager at Greenacre Park, commented: “After months of planning, preparation, and team building, it is very exciting to finally open our doors and to get to work supporting people in Leicester and the wider Leicestershire community. The whole team wants to create a warm, inclusive, and vibrant community where individuals can thrive, families can find support, and where compassionate care is at the forefront of everything we do.

“Partnerships will be a core part of this, and in particular working closely with local health and social care professionals, our valued residents, their families and the broader community. Our goal is to make sure people receive unparalleled care and have their complex needs met within the comfort of their own community.”

Eleanor Deeley, joint managing director at Deeley Group, said: “We are proud to have completed this extensive refurbishment project which will provide important support for people in Leicester living with complex needs. This is the second scheme we have completed in partnership with Exemplar Health Care and further emphasises our expertise in the healthcare sector, whether that is building a new home or refurbishing existing space. We look forward to working with Exemplar on further projects like Greenacre Park which will leave a lasting positive impact on the community.”

Several roles are still being recruited at the home, including a registered nurse and a nurse unit manager. Full details can be found on the Exemplar Health Care careers website
