Northamptonshire care home’s new appointment boosts mental and physical wellbeing of residents

Family-run Northamptonshire care home Meadow View has appointed a new service manager to boost resident wellbeing, introducing a range of innovative mental health projects.

Gemma Hall, 42, has spent 22 years working in the care sector and hopes to bring this wealth of knowledge to her new managerial role at Wellbeing Care’s  home in Irchester, near Wellingborough.

In her new role, Hall will be supporting staff at Meadow View implementing exciting new initiatives to boost the mental and physical wellbeing of residents. She has previously undertaken activities such as recreating a couple’s wedding on their 60th anniversary and making a ‘wish tree’ to fulfil residents’ lifetime wishes – including a hot air balloon experience and a trip to a live rugby match.

Hall has undertaken a plethora of care-based roles across two decades, with her most recent position being registered manager at Nazareth Care Charitable Trust, where she managed a team of up to 70 staff and ensured positive wellbeing was a priority.

Discussing her appointment, Hall said: “I am delighted to have joined the Wellbeing Care team. The company ethos is for residents to enjoy an independent, dignified lifestyle in a homely atmosphere – which aligns with my approach to care provision.

“I initially chose a career in care as my mum suffered a brain injury when she was 34 and I was just 8. I spent most of my teenage years supporting her and my sister. Choosing a career was easy for me as caring felt like the most natural thing to do.”

Hall had some advice for those considering a career in care: “Working in the care sector is so rewarding. My favourite aspect is making people smile and knowing you can make a difference in someone’s life. Although I appreciate it’s not for everyone, if you have a passion for it, it stays with you forever and you always go home knowing you have done something worthwhile.”

Speaking of her future aims for the home, Hall added: “I hope to continue ensuring Meadow View provides a happy, positive environment for both residents and staff. I will focus on all aspects of wellbeing in both physical and mental health to improve the lives of residents who chose Meadow View and Wellbeing Care.”

Discussing Hall’s appointment, Farooq Patel, director at Wellbeing Care, said: “We are delighted to welcome Gemma to our company. With her ambitious outlook, compassionate nature and strong leadership skills, we are confident that she will be an asset to Wellbeing Care.”

He continued: “We are so excited to see what Gemma brings to the team and the lives of residents using our Meadow View services.”
