New entrant acquires Hampshire care home

Emerald Care Providers

New market entrant, Emerald Care Providers, has acquired Thornfields Care Home in Lymington, Hampshire, which is registered for 17 service users in the category of old age, dementia, mental health, and physical disability.

The business occupies a large, detached property with 13 bedrooms, seven of which have en suite facilities.

For the past 20 years the business has been owned and operated by Freddy and Cindy Poordil who recently decided to sell to retire from the care sector.

Freddy Poordil said: “We are sad to be finally leaving the care sector and selling Thornfields which has been our business for the last 20 years. It has been a pleasure working with the staff and looking after all the residents over this time and we wish the new owners great success in their new business. This is a lovely care home, and we are sure they will do well.”

Krish Selvaratnam, director at Emerald Care Providers, commented: “Thornfields is a well presented and homely property which, straight away, we thought was right for us. Lymington is a delightful town, and we look forward to getting to know the area and all of those who are involved with the care home.”

Business property advisor Christie & Co facilitated the sale. Charles Phillips, director, healthcare at Christie & Co said: “The sale of this home demonstrates the demand for care homes in the South of all sizes and categories of care.”

Thornfields Care Home was sold for an undisclosed price.
