Loveday Abbey Road has announced a collaboration with the American School in London to mark Global Intergenerational Week (24-30 April).

The intergenerational programme is designed to be mutually beneficial, bringing vitality and connecting the care home’s members to young people. The home’s members will in turn share their knowledge and life experiences with the students.

Izabela Klaczkiewicz, general manager at Loveday Abbey Road, said: “Intergenerational friendships have a very positive effect on individuals living with dementia, providing a sense of purpose, meaning and intellectual stimulation as well as social engagement which are all hugely important. This is a very meaningful collaboration and we are thrilled to be partnering with the American School in London. We can’t wait to see our members and the students thrive as they connect and share their stories and experiences.”

The innovative programme will include events, musical performances, art workshops, readings, recitals, gardening and horticultural programmes and much more.

Loveday Abbey Road is a residential care home and day club which opened its doors in February 2023 to provide the very highest standards of cutting-edge care and world-class hospitality for those with a wide range of care requirements – from dementia and Parkinson’s to more complex nursing needs. Located just a stone’s throw away from Abbey Road Studios, the home boasts a sensory garden and is one of the most technologically innovative homes in the UK.
