Hartford Care joins forces with Sensio to reduce care home falls risk
Hartford Care has team up with Norwegian company, Sensio, to install room sensors that reduce the risk of care home falls.
The leading care provider is the first in the UK to use the pioneering RoomMate tecnnology in its care homes.
Kevin Shaw, chief executive at Hartford Care, said: “It’s a very exciting prospect to be the first care home in the UK to be trialling RoomMate. This is ground-breaking technology which could help our entire industry develop and evolve; I am looking forward to seeing the impact this will have on our already exceptional resident care.”
RoomMate has reduced falls by an average of 60% across 8,000 users in Scandinavia.
The technology tracks sleeping patterns and shows when people are waking up during the night through the use of an infra-red 3D sensor rather than a camera to maximise privacy.
RoomMate can also send alerts from the resident to carers when they need support.
Johan Anstensrud, chief executive at Sensio, said: “We are delighted that the residents and staff at Hartford Care will reap the benefits from our revolutionary safety sensor RoomMate. For years it has proven to be a success in Scandinavia, preventing falls, injuries and ailments, and giving more time for personal care. I am looking forward to continuing this exciting journey also in the UK, together with Hartford Care.”
