Former Age Scotland CEO joins Sporting Memories

Brian Sloan, former chief executive of Age Scotland, is set to join charity and social enterprise Sporting Memories as development director.

Sloan, who will join the organisation next month, will focus on expanding its network of clubs in Scotland as well as creating new partnerships to enable further development of services.

Sporting Memories aims to help older people to reminiscence, replay and reconnect through the power of sport and physical activity. It has established a network of clubs and a range of products designed to help care homes, hospitals and other settings run their own sessions.

“I hope my passion for sport and experience of working with older people will support the continued growth of Sporting Memories in Scotland allowing its older people to stay connected with their love for sport,” said Sloan.  “Being physically, mentally and socially engaged is vital for your health and wellbeing and Sporting Memories key offerings provide participants with these essential opportunities.”

Chris Wilkins, chief executive of Sporting Memories, said: “It’s a real coup for us to have Brian on board and he will undoubtedly enhance our work and reputation across Scotland and beyond with his knowledge and understanding of the challenges older people face and the support they need to enjoy fulfilling lives.”
