English Oak Care Homes purchases closed Isle of Wight care home

Family-run care home group English Oak Care Homes has acquired Blackwater Mill, a closed care home in Blackwater near Newport, Isle of Wight.
Blackwater Mill was formerly registered as a care home for 60 people. It has 60 en suite bedrooms over three floors, a number of lounges, a dining room, a conservatory located in just over three acres with mature gardens and a large pond.
Once the property has been thoroughly refurbished and upgraded, the aim is to reopen it as a care home.
Stephen Geach, chairman of English Oak Care Homes, said: “Blackwater Mill is a beautiful site with enormous potential. We look forward to breathing new life into the building and creating a warm, welcoming environment for residents and staff alike. English Oak is a progressive family-run business, and the addition of this care home to our company demonstrates our desire to grow the business and improve elderly care provision.”
Business property advisor Christie & Co facilitated the sale.
Charles Phillips, director, care at Christie & Co, said: “The sale of this property demonstrates that there is great demand for both trading and closed care homes throughout the South.”
Blackwater Mill was sold for an undisclosed price.
