A care home in Exeter has achieved Gold Standards Framework Reaccreditation Platinum status for outstanding palliative and end-of-life care.

The Lodge, part of the Elizabeth Finn Homes care home portfolio, was recognised at the Gold Standards Framework Conference and Awards ceremony on 7 October in London.

The GSF Centre provides expert training which once completed and embedded into practice, means homes can apply for accreditation which lasts for three years.  At the end of the three years, organisations need to apply for reaccreditation and those achieving this are awarded Platinum status.

The Lodge was one of around 45 UK care homes, hospitals, hospices, primary care practices, retirement villages and domiciliary care agencies, that received the prestigious GSF Platinum quality hallmark, confirming their ongoing commitment to providing the very best end-of-life care, allowing residents to live out the remainder of their lives to the fullest.

General manager of The Lodge, Deborah Skinner, said: “The last two years have been an incredibly difficult time for all health and social care providers and taking the time to complete their GSF accreditation is to be commended for any provider. I am very proud of our amazing team who have worked so hard to retain this amazing accolade.  Good quality end-of-life care has never been more important.”

Elizabeth Finn Homes operates nine care homes across England and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the charity Turn2us.
