Devon home changes hands

Buckley & Buckley Homes has purchased Furzeham Lodge Care Home in Torbay, Devon, which occupies a large, detached, modified property and is registered for up to 22 residents.

The home has been owned by David and Angela Baker and Howard and Sarah Dennis for more than 20 years. They decided to sell as part of their plans to scale back their involvement in the sector in advance of their retirement.

Buckley & Buckley Homes also owns Tudor Court, a care home in Paignton, Devon.

Dave Baker said: “We acquired Furzeham Lodge in February 2005 and immediately saw the potential of our investment. We had over 40 years of care home experience within our partnership and recognised that this was a very family-oriented home. We have enjoyed every moment and wish the new owners a long and happy tenure.”

Business property advisor Christie & Co facilitated the sale.

Simon Harvey, senior director, care at Christie & Co, said: “This sale is further evidence of the significant demand that continues to exist for well-run, profitable care homes of virtually all sizes and styles across the Southwest which currently shows no sign of letting up.”

Furzeham Lodge was sold for an undisclosed price.
