Danforth Care Homes opens luxury home in Cambridgeshire

Danforth Care Homes has officially opened its ninth home, which will provide residence and care for 66 people.

Barton Manor, a purpose-built luxury care home in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, was officially opened by  the high sheriff of Cambridgeshire and Mayor of Wisbech.

The site includes landscaped gardens, a hair and beauty salon and a cinema, as well as a library and garden room. An on-site chef will cook restaurant quality meals, and residents will be provided with a private room with facilities including en-suite wet rooms, smart TVs and mini fridges.

Purpose-built by the LNT Group, the luxury care facility boasts an A energy rating, with industry leading eco technologies. The site is gas-free and is built to self-generate significant amounts of power, using ground source heating technology for heating water, powering air conditioning and underfloor heating. In addition, 80% of the roof is covered in solar panels.

“We care for the environment as meticulously as we care for our residents,” said home manager Andrea Layton. “The technology built into this care home is state of the art, and means we’re only using a third of a home’s normal electricity usage. The rest we get from the grid from clean sources.”

The next home from Danforth Care Homes, Orchard Manor, will open in Windlesham, Surrey, in autumn 2023.
