Community-driven care provider Curaa has acquired Ashview Nursing Home in East Hertfordshire for an undisclosed price.

The home, which was on the market for the first time since 1996, is registered to care for up to 32 residents. It occupies a detached property set in 1.1 acre grounds in the village of Widford. The owners decided to sell in order to concentrate on their other businesses in the region.

Haris Khan, Curaa co-founder and chief executive, said: “Ashview is a wonderful home, with a dedicated and high-performing team. It has diligently served the community since 1997, and we are excited to build on that excellent reputation. With this fourth addition to our platform, we hope to continue Curaa’s growth across the south and southwest of the UK.”

The sale was handled by specialist business property adviser Christie & Co. Joanne Mathers, director – care, said: “The confidential marketing of this home generated interest from a wide range of purchasers, including existing operators and new entrants, which continues to show not only the strength of the market in the region but also the appetite that still exists for ‘older style’, converted care homes when they are well-located, with strong trading performance and longstanding local reputations.”

Mathers added:  “Despite the challenges towards the end of last year, our experience suggests a continued positive outlook for well-run care homes, a point that is endorsed by the number of completions last year and ongoing transactions which are due to complete in the first quarter of this year.”
