Covid policy document restored following cover-up allegations

Links to are a key Scottish Covid policy document have been restored following allegations they had been intentionally deleted.

Public Health Scotland (PHS) said the links to the documents had been lost during the migration of content from Health Protection Scotland to its website on 1 November 2023 but have now been restored.

PHS said: “The documents affected have remained available since publication and from 1 November 2023 have been accessible on the PHS website.”

The guidance on the government’s policy regarding hospital discharge to care home during the pandemic has been restored to the body’s archive here.

The announcement came after the government faced allegations the guidance had been intentionally deleted.

Scot Lib Dem leader Alex Cole-Hamilton said all guidance, including WhatsApp messages between ministers, must be turnover over to the Covid Inquiry so that it can uncover how the government “reached the fateful decision to move untested and Covid-positive patients into care homes”.

A Scottish government spokesperson said: “Older versions of the care homes guidance remain available online in the archive section of the website.

“We will provide all versions of any guidance that we hold requested by the Inquiries.”
