Council suspends care home placements following allegations of poor care

Local authority placements at a Shropshire care home have been suspended following allegations of poor care.

The action was taken by Telford & Wrekin Council at The Farmstead Care Home in Telford which was acquired by Sandstone Care Group on 31 May.

A council spokesperson said: “Telford & Wrekin Council has temporarily suspended new placements at The Farmstead whilst we work with Sandstone alongside our partner health professionals to ensure that the residents there are being cared for and are safe.”

A spokesperson for Sandstone Care Group said: “We take all complaints very seriously and are carrying out a full investigation into the allegations that have been made.

“We are working on an action plan in conjunction with Telford & Wrekin Council, supported by specialist external care home consultants Caresolve, and good progress is being made.

“We are committed to providing residents with the highest possible standard of person-centred care.”

Farmstead Care Home is currently rated Good by the CQC.

The home is registered to provide personal and nursing up to 66 people across three floors of a purpose-built building.
