Care UK to run Gloucestershire homes

Care provider Care UK has taken over the leadership and management of two co-located care homes and a suite of 11 independent living apartments, collectively known as The Hollies.
Care UK’s management contract includes the Hollies Nursing Care Home, Holly Oak Dementia Care Home, and The Woodlands Apartments, all located in Dursley, Gloucestershire.
The two homes, which are rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, consist of 104 rooms which support residents with a variety of needs, including specialised support for dementia care and nursing care. Facilities at the two homes include an outdoor cinema, a dedicated events area, beauty salons a tea room and a pub.
Phillip Steyn, operations director of Care UK’s central division will take over responsibility for the new homes with the support of director Jemma Griffiths.
This change in management follows the retirement of The Hollies’ former owners, Jonathan and Kaye Hawkins, who built up and ran the sites over a 17-year period.
Jonathan Hawkins, former managing director of The Hollies said: “Whilst we are sad to be leaving The Hollies, Kaye and I are confident that we are entrusting the management of our homes to a solid and trusted operator who will preserve the high standards of care and the ethos of our company.”
Andrew Knight, chief executive of Care UK, said: “We are excited about taking on these stunning properties and are looking forward to building on the high standards of care at both The Hollies and Holly Oak. The homes have longstanding and close-knit ties with the local community, and we will be looking to maintain and develop these to ensure residents and colleagues remain connected to Dursley and its surrounding villages.”
With the addition of the homes, Care UK now operates 165 homes across Great Britain.
