Barry nursing home changes hands

Experienced regional care home operators, Jacob and Beena George, have purchased College Fields Nursing Home in Barry, South Wales, a detached Grade II listed home registered for 68 residents.

The home was previously owned and run by husband-and-wife team, Mike and Rachel Kemp, who acquired the site in the 1980s and converted the former student accommodation block into an end-of-life care home.

The Kemps commented: “After owning the home for 33 years, we decided that it was time to retire. We’re really pleased to be passing it over to such experienced operators as Jacob and Beena who we’re sure will ensure continuity of care and really look after the staff and residents that we’ve had the pleasure of working with and for all these years.”

The Georges stated: “It is such a pleasure to add this wonderful specialist nursing home to our portfolio, enabling us to have a resourceful pool for many specialities in the Cardiff and the Vale locality. We are confident that we can continue the legacy that Rachel and Mike have passed over to us, and we will be only too keen to enhance people’s positive experiences and to continue the great relationship with our residents, families, staff, and stakeholders.”

Business property advisor Christie & Co facilitated the sale. Oliver McCarthy, associate director, care at Christie & Co, said: “The transactional market in Wales remains strong, and this is likely to continue for the remainder of the year and well into 2023.”

College Fields Nursing Home was sold for an undisclosed price.
