Avery Healthcare launches respite care service to support family carers

Avery Healthcare has launched a pre-bookable respite care service to support family carers in need of a break.

Recent ONS data shows 2.5 million people in the UK take on work as an unpaid carer alongside their regular employment.

Jo Wright, director of sales, marketing and customer experience at Avery Healthcare, commented: “Combining high levels of care with employment comes with significant challenges especially for our ‘sandwich generation’ of families who are juggling work, teenagers and elderly parents.  Pre-bookable respite is helpful to families so they can better plan and it is also a wonderful way for new residents who may need fulltime care to try out the service in a hotel-style stay way. We feel pre-bookable respite care is a kind and gentle way for families to get used to the idea of care, helping to remove the fear factor of the unknown.

A daughter of a resident shared her experience using Avery’s pre-bookable respite care service: “My mum has just returned home from her two-week respite stay and what a lovely time she has had! Since her return, she has continuously told us how kind everyone was. There was a real sense of community at the home where everybody really made her feel a part of it and she now plans to visit the home to see her friends for a catch-up. I’d like to thank the team who helped her get involved in activities and the kitchen team for the great food. She will definitely be back which has helped put my mind at ease.”

Pre-bookable respite will be bookable directly on the website through a calendar booking system via this link: https://www.averyhealthcare.co.uk/services-and-care/respite-care/
