Ark Care Homes buys Holsworthy care home

Devon care home provider Ark Care Homes has acquired Bodmeyrick Residential Home in Holsworthy, Devon, which provides residential care to up to 28 clients aged over 65, as well as those with dementia, mental health conditions and physical disabilities.

Ark Care Homes is a family-run care business and Bodmeyrick marks the seventh Devon care home in its portfolio, which also includes three specialist younger adult learning disability care homes in North Devon and three elderly dementia homes in the South of the county.

Rebecca Marks, director at Ark Care Homes, said: “Being a local, family-run business, we are absolutely delighted that we have brought Bodmeyrick into our family of high-quality and specialised care homes across Devon. The team and the values demonstrated at Bodmeyrick match those across the rest of our business, and we are very proud to be working alongside Keeley, registered manager, and her team to implement the exciting investment plans we have at the home.”

Business property advisor Christie & Co facilitated the sale. Simon Harvey, senior director, care at Christie & Co said: “The confidential marketing of this home generated interest from a wide range of purchasers, including existing operators and new entrants, which continues to show not only the strength of the market in the region but also the appetite that still exists for older style, converted care homes when they are well located, with strong trading performance and long-standing local reputations. Despite the challenges towards the end of last year, our experience suggests a continued positive outlook for well-run care homes, a point that is endorsed by the number of completions last year and ongoing transactions which are due to complete in the first few weeks of this year.”

Bodmeyrick Residential Home was sold for an undisclosed price.
