Hawcombe Care acquires West Midlands care home

Hawcombe Care has purchased Comberton Nursing Home in Stourbridge in the West Midlands, which provides nursing and residential care for up to 36 residents, including those with dementia, and employs 50 staff.
Hawcombe stated the acquisition is part of its buy-and-build strategy. The company also owns The Hawthorns care home in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
The vendor is Astley Care, which is owned by Jay Patel who continues to operate four care homes across the Midlands and Cheshire.
Imran Mian, director of Hawcombe Care, said the company is investing around £100,000 this year on improvements at Comberton, including new equipment and furniture, safety upgrades and redecoration throughout the building.
He added: “Comberton is a great home with a lot of potential. It has a good reputation and occupancy levels, and we are excited about making long-term improvements to the home. Its location fits perfectly with our expansion strategy and we are looking to grow further in the West Midlands as we assess other acquisition opportunities.”
Care home sales and finance company Montane Care brokered the deal.
Darren Edwards, healthcare agent at Montane Care, said: “This latest sale represents a growing trend within the care sector, where established operators are choosing to exit the market with strategic support, while newer operators and entrants bring fresh energy and ambition to the industry.
Newhall Solicitors advised Jay Patel. Pickford Solicitors advised Hawcombe Care.
The home was acquired for an undisclosed sum.
