Danforth Care opens Suffolk home
Danforth Care has opened Harbour Manor a purpose-built 66-bed care home in Felixstowe, Suffolk, with rooms available for one inclusive fee.
The home, built by LNT Developments, provides 24-hour residential and dementia care, personalised activity programmes, restaurant quality food, a cinema, salon, café and library.
Each private room has an en suite wet room, a flat screen TV, a mini fridge and underfloor heating.
80% of the available roof space has been lined with solar panels, so the home generates its own electricity, and sells what it doesn’t need to the grid. The building also operates without gas and is A rated for energy, with an underground system running miles below the care home to heat the home’s hot water, provide underfloor heating and air cooling.
The home has created 60 jobs for the area. Danforth is currently hiring for roles with details available on its website.
The home was officially opened last week with a ribbon cutting ceremony by town mayor of Felixstowe, councillor Seamus Bennett.
Home manager Magda Kurdziel said: “It’s a pleasure to be opening Harbour Manor care home officially to the public. The whole team are so excited to get started building a wonderful community here in Felixstowe and providing a beautiful and safe place for vulnerable adults to live.”
