Retirement living firm launches riverside events venue

Retirement living company Riverstone has launched a riverside events and education venue in London’s Fulham.

Kingfisher Wharf, which is available to hire, includes a classroom or meeting space and an event and entertainment space. The building has a wildlife-friendly sedum roof and an outdoor standing area, The Deck.

The venue is located next door to retirement community Riverstone Fulham and will be used by Riverstone residents and the wider community. It can operate seven days a week, including bank holidays and holds a full alcohol licence.

Discounts are offered for local education authority schools. The installation of a second footbridge in 2024 will increase the total venue capacity to 110 people.

Greg Mace, chief experience officer at Riverstone, said: “As well as being used for celebrations and events, the space has been designed with the latest AV equipment to support a range of intergenerational experiences based on education and learning.”

He added: “Research has shown that social participation and a sense of community belonging improve both wellbeing and health in older adults, and when the participation takes the form of learning and education, the benefits are even greater. Riverstone looks forward to supporting local schools and other stakeholders for intergenerational projects across London, potentially with Kingfisher Wharf as a hub.”
