Ipswich MP visits home to mark Care Home Open Week
Ipswich MP Tom Hunt paid a visit to Handford House care home to mark Care Home Open Week.
Hunt, who has been Conservative MP for the area since 2019, spent time with residents playing bingo and chatted with members of the care team and residents at the Suffolk home.
“I’m really impressed with everything here at Handford House and can see how happy the residents are,” said Hunt. “It is my first visit to the home since I was elected and I want to thank the care team for all the care and support they are giving to my constituents who live here.” Hunt was particularly impressed by the home’s hand-painted memory tree.
Home manager Fisayo Akadri said: “At Handford House we enjoy being part of the wider Ipswich community and visitors are always welcome to come along and see the home and talk to the team here. We were delighted to welcome Tom during Care Home Open Week and pleased to show him our indoor and outdoor space which is very important to the residents as a place to reflect, relax in and enjoy all the benefits of being outside in the sunshine.”
Care Home Open Week aims to encourage the local community to visit a care home, meet the team and see the great activities which are offered to residents as well as the diverse career opportunities in care which are available.
Handford House is part of the Healthcare Homes family of 48 care homes and is rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission.
