Signature opens £14m care home in Berkshire

Signature Senior Lifestyle has formally opened its £14m Signature at Caversham care home in Reading.

To mark the opening, the home donated £500 to Caversham Good Neighbours, a charity providing transport to help local elderly people get to hospital, doctor appointments and shopping trips.

Carmela Magbitang, general manager at Signature at Caversham, said:  “Our donation to Caversham Good Neighbours underlines our firm commitment to working in partnership with our wider neighbourhood in the years to come.”

The opening ceremony was attended by members of the community, including the care home’s ward borough councillors and Reading Council’s Adult Social Care Committee.

Signature at Caversham draws on the fact that Reading is the birthplace of the Princess of Wales, with a Royal Lounge Restaurant and King Charles III bar. The Berkshire care home has 86 studio apartments, with facilities including an inhouse café, cinema, hair and nail salon, spa bathrooms and a comprehensive activities room.

To deliver the new care home, Signature at Caversham worked in partnership with Beard Construction and PRP Architects.  Simon Atkins, associate director at PRP, said: “The carefully considered design has created a domestic character within a building of architectural distinction.”

The latest in Signature’s family of 37 care homes, Signature at Caversham provides residential, nursing, dementia, and respite services.
