Wolverhampton home wins funding to create retro space
A Wolverhampton care home received a much-needed cash boost from a convenience store following the opening of the shop’s thousandth branch.
One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco, marked the opening of 1,000 branches across the country by donating £1,000 each to ten support services in the Wolverhampton area.
MHA Waterside House received one of the cash awards for its work in supporting those who need care.
The home provides a safe and caring environment for up to 60 people living with dementia. It will use the money to top up funds and convert the café area into a retro space. The revamp will include vinyl records as decoration as well as a guitar, juke box, dartboard, and snooker table.
Michelle Jones, activity coordinator said: “Our residents love to dance so we have been thinking about renovating the café area and turning it into a dance/entertainment area. The donation will help immensely.”
She added: “We are looking to get our own pub/bar area as well, so it’s going to be a lovely update which will be enjoyed by everyone. The residents were happy when we told them about the donation and are already asking when the renovation will take place.”
