33-bedroom Dorset care home sold to local property developer

The Crescent Nursing Home in Bournemouth, Dorset has been sold to a local property developer.

The Crescent

The previous owner, Helen Graham, decided that, after having run the home for many years, it was time to retire, and the property was placed discreetly on the market. It was offered confidentially as a trading care home but, due to the age and configuration of the properties, a sale was eventually concluded on a closed basis to a local property developer.

The Crescent is registered for 40 service users and has 33 bedrooms, seven of which have ensuite facilities. The home was originally two detached properties that have been linked over the years and includes an enclosed patio courtyard area and a raised pond. It is situated in a quiet residential area near the centre of Bournemouth, close to Meyrick Park, and overlooks the tree-lined Meyrick Park Crescent.

“Having owned and managed The Crescent Nursing Home for quite a while, I took the decision that the time was right to sell,” said Graham. “It was a hard decision as I have enjoyed managing and running the home, but I wanted to retire. The size of the plot and location made the property suitable for development and, whilst it was a shame to close the business down, I am pleased to have sold.”

“Whilst The Crescent was a trading business when we were instructed to sell it, the property was always going to be suitable for development,” said Christie & Co director-healthcare Charles Phillips who handled the sale. “To maximise the sale price, a hard decision was taken by Helen to close the home but, from a commercial point of view, this was the right decision. We are delighted to have sold the home for her and hope that she enjoys her retirement.

“This sale demonstrates the high demand we’re seeing from both operators and developers for closed or trading care homes in the South.”

The Crescent Nursing Home was sold for an undisclosed price.
