Sunderland’s Cedar House sold

Cedar House Care Home in Sunderland has been sold by Andrew Kerr to Hardip Kang, who also owns Primrose House in County Durham.

Cedar House, Sunderland

The home was brought to market to enable Kerr and his family to expand their portfolio in other business areas.

The converted Victorian building has been reconfigured to provide assisted living support for up to 31 residents. Its accommodation comprises 30 bedrooms spread over four floors. Located on The Cedars in the Ashbrooke area of Sunderland and overlooking the beautiful Backhouse Park, it is approximately one mile away from Sunderland City Centre and three miles away from the popular beach area of Seaburn.

“I have known the Kerr family for many years, and to be able to secure a sale to another local buyer demonstrates that local knowledge of both the market and the buyers can enable a sale to be concluded in confidence,” said Julie Kitson, director – healthcare at Christie & Co, who handled the sale. “I am very pleased to have been able to assist the Kerr family in this sale and am sure Hardip will continue the good standard of care and maintain the excellent reputation the home has built up over many years.

“The care market is buoyant with both first-time buyers and regional operators looking to acquire similar homes.”
