Exemplar Health Care begins construction of £6.6m specialist care home
Exemplar Health Care has begun construction of a £6.6 million specialist care home in Ashton-under-Lyme, Greater Manchester.
Acer Mews, which is being built by Yorkshire-based contractor Walter Thompson, will support adults living with acquired brain injuries, complex mental health needs, dementia and physical disabilities.
Sam Cottam, commissioning manager at Exemplar Health Care, said: “We are delighted to announce the commencement of construction for Acer Mews, our £6.6m specialist care home in Ashton-under-Lyne. This extensive refurbishment project underscores our steadfast commitment to providing exceptional nursing care for adults with complex needs.
“Acer Mews will not only enhance the lives of our residents but also bring significant benefits to the local community. With the creation of 100 new healthcare jobs, we are proud to contribute to the economic growth and prosperity of the area. This development showcases our dedication to delivering high-quality care while fostering employment opportunities and positively impacting lives in Ashton-under-Lyne and Greater Manchester.”
The home will be split into two, 14-bed communities – as small group living provides a more homely, supportive, and responsive care environment – and each of the 28 bedrooms will have its own ensuite wet room. The home will also have communal dining and living spaces, sensory bathrooms, an activities hub, a large accessible garden and a dedicated therapy room offering a full holistic approach to the service users with therapeutic care and support led by the physiotherapist and occupational therapist.
Set to open in early 2024, the home will create a variety of roles, including health care assistants, registered nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
Recruitment is due to start this summer, and candidates can register their interest online at: https://www.exemplarhc.com/care-homes/acer-mews
