Care sector to stage London demonstration
Providers Unite, a coalition of care sector individuals and organisations, is organising a demonstration on Tuesday, 25 February to demand reforms to safeguard the future of social care.
The march will begin at 11am at Deans Yard, Westminster and ends at Parliament Square Gardens.
The organisers stated: “Whether you are a care provider, work in care, a care recipient, or work in any aspect of the sector, we need you to stand with us. This is a critical moment to show the government that social care cannot be ignored any longer.
“For too long, successive governments have overlooked the sector, relying on its resilience to weather crisis after crisis. But the latest changes to National Insurance contributions threaten to push many providers beyond breaking point. Without urgent intervention, vital care services will be lost, leaving those who rely on them at risk.
“This is our opportunity to send a clear message: enough is enough. We will not accept continued inaction. We will be there, and we need you there too. Together, we can drive the change our sector desperately needs.”
Care England’s chief executive Professor Martin Green said: “The social care sector is at breaking point, and yet again, the government has failed to act. Providers are being pushed to the brink, while those who rely on care services face growing uncertainty. The increase in National Insurance contributions is yet another financial burden that care providers simply cannot afford.
“This is not just a crisis for providers, it is a crisis for the millions of people who depend on social care every day. The government must understand that without urgent reform and sustainable funding, the entire system is at risk of collapse.
“We are standing together to say: enough is enough. We need real action, and we need it now.”

Green continued: “Your voice matters. The work you do matters. The lives you support matter. You matter. It’s time to make the government acknowledge this truth and act on it.”
