Care Home Open Week to go ahead with new plans around MP engagement

The organisers of Care Home Open Week are developing new plans to work around the General Election taking place on 4 July.

Care homes had been called on to engage with local MPs, but Ed Maxfield, director of Open Week organiser Championing Social Care, said new plans were being developed.

All other elements of the event, which runs between 24 and 30 June, will take place as planned, including the Great British Care Cycle Relay which runs in tandem with Open Week.

“The social care sector has a well-earned reputation for delivering no matter what. So we are delighted to confirm that Care Home Open Week will still go ahead and we are still planning for it to be bigger and better than ever,” said Maxfield.

“We really want to focus on the amazing work done by care services and partner organisations through this year’s Care Home Open Week,” he added. “The only part of the week that will change is our plans for engaging with Members of Parliament. We are working on a new plan and homes that register to take part will be kept updated.”

The Care Home Open Week map is now live, showing where homes are taking part. Homes can also download free resources to support the event.
