Call to apply for palliative care Fellowships

Churchill Fellowship, in partnership with the Burdett Trust for Nursing and Marie Curie, is creating Fellowships to fund individuals to explore new ideas and best practice regarding palliative and end-of-life care, particularly for less common life-limiting conditions.

Applications for Fellowships are especially encouraged if they relate to the work of health professionals and related sectors such as social workers, counsellors, community carers and volunteers, as well as communities.

Also encouraged are projects that relate to relevant developments in medicine and other practice areas, that address relevant legal and ethical issues, or that consider the integration of this field into other areas of care.

Churchill Fellowships are open to all adult UK citizens regardless of qualifications, background or age, and the international research can be undertaken online or through travel, where necessary. Fellows from previous years are already working in this field, using the ideas and knowledge acquired on their Fellowships to set up new organisations, influence policy, create new models of practice, and deliver a range of other interventions.

Julia Weston, chief executive of the Churchill Fellowship, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with the Burdett Trust and Marie Curie for a second year of Churchill Fellowships which seek new ideas and solutions from around the world to improve palliative care. Every year we are inspired by the passion and determination of Churchill Fellows to make a difference, supported by the knowledge and ideas acquired through their Fellowship research. We look forward to welcoming applications in September from any UK citizen with a vision for change in this area.”

Fellowships will open for applications on 13 September.
